Braves vs. Cardinals

Our second game was on Saturday. The weather was horrible. It was cold (46 degrees!) and rainy. Yet, we played ball! Our cheering section grew for this game! Nana, Papa, Uncle Mike, Aunt April and Christian beared the weather conditions to cheer Thomas on. It was a good game. Thomas was very proud of himself for catching a ground ball and throwing it to first base. He actually did a "touch down" dance in excitement! A student of mine plays for the Cardinals so it was fun to cheer for both sides. I only took two photos....isn't that hard to believe. It was so cold that my hands hurt! After an hour of playing, the teams decided that with the worsening weather it would be best to call the game. Fine by me! We loaded up and went to McDonalds. :)

Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

On Thursday, Thomas had his first T-Ball game. The Braves did a great job! We played the Cubs. We were so happy that Mr.Bill and Mary were able to be in our cheering section. In T-Ball, the coach throws the batter three balls, and if the batter misses, then he gets to hit from the tee. When it was Thomas' first time up to bat he hit the first ball that was thrown. He was so excited! Then we he batted again, he hit the second ball that was thrown. The games last until each player has had a chance to bat twice or until the game has been played for 1 and a half hours (which ever comes first). It's so cute to see the kids play.

We're Going to the Zoo

On Thursday, I had the chance to chaperone Thomas' class field trip to the Central Florida Zoo. As we talked about going I asked Thomas if it would be okay if I sat with him on the bus for the trip and he replied, " I don't know Mom, I might have to sit with an adult." Ha! Luckily, he let me sit with him even though I'm only a Mommy. I think it has almost been ten years since I have been there. I knew that they re-did portions of the zoo and I was looking forward to seeing the changes. When we arrived I was very impressed by their changes. They now have a little water park, a carousel, a train ride, and even a zip line course. Although, there didn't seem to be as many animals there as I remember.

It was a very chilly day when we went. The highs never got out of the 50's. Thomas' class behaved on the bus and while visiting the zoo. They were excited to see the animals and venture into the petting zoo part. Thomas didn't like when the animals left "slime" on his hands after feeding them. When we saw the kangaroo area the teacher asked what kind of habitat the kangaroos live in. Thomas raised his hand and said that their habitat was a cage. :) She then rephrased the question and asked him what kind of area does a kangaroo live in, and he replied, "a habitat." Guess, we will be revisiting the lesson of habitats!

Play Ball!

Last Saturday, Oviedo Babe Ruth had their Opening Day. The teams were all there. I hear that there are over 1,000 kids in the League this year. That's amazing! The day began at 8am on the field. Thomas was in a skill competition. He had to throw three balls into a large bucket at the end of the batting cage. He did awesome! Then we walked over to another field to have our individual pictures and team photos taken. I ordered a photo package but was able to quickly snap a few shots of Thomas while the photographer had him focused. I hope the ones I ordered come out just as great! We then had some free time, so we ate our picnic lunch. Good idea we brought sandwiches since the lines were so long for food. There was an opening ceremony which ALL the teams sat on the field and listened to people from the League tell about how great their year was last season. Then someone threw out the first pitch! It was such a wonderful sense of community! I love it! Some teams had to start playing games while the rest of us enjoyed the bounce houses and basket raffles! It was a long day, but a great one. 8 Months Old!

Each month I take a picture of Nathan in his little chair to help document how much he has grown in the course of 12 months. I have lots of plans with these pictures, but will surprise you later after one year has been complete. Anyways, I have to admit that the pictures are getting harder and harder to take. He just doesn't want to stay still!!!! He bounces on his chair to the point he falls off, usually resulting in a face plant. Here are some of the out takes. :)

Valentine's Love

Nana and Papa got the boys some super sweet things for Valentine's Day. We waited until after bathtime to open them up. The boys love their special treats. Nathan was quite content with just opening and eating the wrapping paper. They especially love their Nana and Papa. I love this picture! Nathan has such a sweet grin!

Look Ma! No Hands!

Yet another weekend has passed and we have seen Nathan do another "trick". On Saturday, he pulled himself up (which he now does within seconds) using a playroom chair. Then he LET GO! Yep, no hands. He balanced himself for about 4 seconds. (Yes, I was counting.) Now, everytime he pulls himself up he lets go on purpose just to practice balancing. Yay, Nathan!
