Thomas' Yellow/Fishing Birthday Party!

The morning of our party started off very busy....like any other Saturday. I got the boys ready to head to MyGym; the little tumble place Thomas goes to every Saturday. Once they left I could set up the party games and fill balloons. The boys stopped at Publix on the way home to pick up the birthday cake! They weren't home but thirty minutes and guests started coming for our yellow/fishing party. (Months ago Thomas told me he wanted a yellow birthday party, but I convinced him to also have a fishing one, too.)

Thomas had lots of fun playing with the kids outside. There was magnetic fishing in the kiddie pool and hoola hoops spread out for a casting contest. Too bad it was sooooo hot. I think the kids were outside for a total of thirty minutes playing. Next year we'll have to plan a pool party or something. :)




































By the end of the day, Thomas was too tired to smile near his birthday flag. You'd think he'd take a nap after guests left, but noooooo. He was too busy playing with his new toys.

















After dinner and bath he finally got to eat his first slice of birthday cake. (He was too busy while everyone was here to eat it when everyone else did!) Of course we had to light the candle and sing again. He ate every bite. yum-o.

Our eventful Father's Day

We had good intensions to make this Father's Day a good one....Thomas had other plans. The day started early, midnight, exactly. Thomas woke up with the worst nosebleed he has ever had. Once that was under control I got him back to sleep and then he was up two more times before 8am. We woke up and I made pancakes with sausage (Thomas' request) and scrambled eggs (Ken's request). By 10am Ken and Thomas were outside mowing. Afterwards we all got ready to go to a birthday swimming party. As we were getting ready to go out the door, Thomas decided to jump off our bed. Note: the mattress is up to my hip and he jumped like he was on a trampoline. He somehow landed on his face and busted that little skin thingy that attaches the top lip to the top gum. Needless to say, we had to go to the pediatric afterhours urgent care place. We didn't have a long wait. Long story short, they wouldn't do stitches. They said it had to heal on its own and that he needs to be on anti-biotics for five days. From the urgent care place we went to Publix to fill the prescription and to stock up on Tylenol. From there we headed to the pool party (2 hours late). Thomas was so anxious to get in the pool and swim. They have a "real" pool compared to our kiddie one. We put floaties on Thomas since he is not a swimmer. Well, he lost his footing on the step and began to sink....so much for the floaties. So I jumped in...clothes and all to save him. Ken then decided to put on his swim suit to help Thomas swim beyond the step area, but no luck. Thomas was traumatized by the "near-drowning" and was ready to be done. We were supposed to visit Papa for Father's Day after the party, but none of us could do it. It was just too bad of a day to go. So, Ken definitely needs a re-do for Father's Day and we owe Papa a special visit. :)

Ultimate Kid Bowling

We attended a birthday party this afternoon at a place called "Firkin and Kegler's". It is a huge bowling alley/restaurant/arcade/night club. It has thirty-two bowling lanes and a special bowling room for kids. The lanes are shorter and the balls are smaller, but still rather heavy. The kids got to bowl for two hours and they didn't have to rent stinky bowling shoes. Thomas had so much fun. After he rolled the ball he shouted, "GO!,GO!,GO!". It seemed that the louder he got the faster he thought the ball would go. We had a lot of fun and will probably go back sometime in the summer for something fun and special to do.

Summer Splashing

This morning we planned on splashing in the kiddie pool and sprinkler. When Thomas woke up at 7am he was so excited and said, "Let's go swimming!" We only have one baby to watch and he brought his swim suit, too. For over thirty minutes Thomas kept saying, "Let's go swimming!" so by 7:45 we were outside splashing. The kids had a great time and loved every minute of it. Thomas liked "swimming". The kids got to play on the swings, in the kiddie pool, in the sprinkler and we also blew bubbles. We had so much fun while the heat wasn't too intense. Can you believe that were outside for almost 2 hours!?! And Thomas could have stayed outside all morning, but the baby was getting too tired. It was so nice to be able to wacth Thomas just be himself. It's moments like this that I hope I never forget. Enjoy the pictures!

Blogging Again!!!

I'm sorry that it has taken me a while to sit down and re-do our family blog. I have tons of pictures of Thomas to share with you and need to fill you in on that has happened.

Ok....in May Thomas was invited to a little girl's birthday. Her party was at a place called "Birthday World". The name speaks for itself! It was like the state fair meets the circus....all under one roof. There were carnival rides, games, and indoor glow-in-the-dark golfing. He got some tokens and had fun playing games for tickets. He earned 35 tickets and got to pick out a yellow ring. After playing some games, Thomas wanted to go on this train roller coaster. I didn't think it was a good idea since it went really fast, but Ken thought it was fine since Thomas met the height requirements. We let him ride and he got to sit in the front. It went so fast and the first few times around he wasn't sure if he thought it was fun or scary. He rode the entire time and was totally brave. Oddly though, when we put him on the carousel ride he completely flipped out!

For Mother's Day Thomas made me homemade pancakes. He had so much fun shaking the container. He got me new flowers for the pots outside and helped me water them. It was a very nice day.

Thomas and I have only one baby coming to our house in June, which is exciting. That means that we can take walks to feed the ducks down the street, splash in the kiddie pool and sprinklers, and play on toys outside. In July, we plan on taking Thomas to SeaWorld for his birthday and have breakfast with Elmo. We also have lots of other things planned including "summer camp".

Thomas has changed a lot recently. He is soaking up EVERYTHING he hears. Which is good when we review the alphabet, but not so good at other times. In June he just started pretending. It was the cutest thing to watch his mind work. He pretended that the babies we watched were The Wiggles. He also started to pretend that he is a puppy or kitty cat. He is getting excited about going to "Big Boy School" and talks about it almost everyday.

I think that catches you up for now. We have so much planned this month so I'm sure I'll be posting more pictures soon.
