Must Be a Guy Thing

Horseplay seems be the ultimate game at our house. It must be a guy thing. The funny thing is they each enjoy it so much!

Thomas Plays Basketball

This summer we signed Thomas up for basketball through the Oviedo YMCA. The team meets on Thursday evenings and plays their games on Saturdays. The season begins in June and ends in August! Thomas wanted to play in the spring, but due to our busy schedule, I promised him he could play in the summer season. He has been wanting to play since his class played it in their P.E. class. We are super lucky that the wonderful coach we had for T-Ball also coaches his basketball team. We love his positive enthusiasm. His son was also in Thomas' Kindergarten class along with a friend that we have known since Thomas was three! It's nice to see some familiar faces! Thomas was very welcomed on the team. The first practice turned out to be one hour long and full of drill practice. Thomas had to dribble, shoot, and they even scrimmaged another team. Thomas got lots of shots and when we got in the car I asked him why he never told me how great he was at basketball! We are looking forward to watching him this season!

Boardwalk Bowling Fun

This morning we went to Boardwalk Bowling Alley for some fun. We signed up for a summer of free bowling which almost seemed too good to be true. I printed our passes this morning from the website and Thomas and Nathan got 2 free games plus free shoe rental. I must admit that bowling by myself with both boys was absolutely exhausting. Nathan needed some help rolling the ball with speed, so Thomas and I helped him. Thomas got discouraged since the ball was bigger and heavier than he preferred so he didn't get any strikes. He did get one spare. It was a lot of fun and we plan to go a few more times this summer.
Thomas being helpful.
Nathan was so excited that he yelled and jumped up and down every time he rolled the ball. Look, his feet are OFF the ground!

Big Boy Bed

Sunday night I walked into Nathan's room to find him with one leg OVER the crib in attempts to escape. I have been dreading this moment. He is sooooo busy of a boy that the crib has been one of the only safe places to put him when I needed two hands to do something. No more! We made his crib into a toddler bed Monday night. He thinks it's fun to climb in and out of it. Getting him to STAY in it was another story. He came out of his room every ten seconds for an entire TWO HOURS! Finally, at 9:30 he said "night night" and put himself to bed. ugh! I guess it's better to be safe rather than sorry, so our Nathan is officially a big boy!
Two HOURS later, he's out like a light!

Leu Gardens

The first Monday of every month is story time at Leu Gardens. Usually I am working and the kids are in school so we only get to go on months we are available. We got there early enough to visit the butterfly garden and enjoy the scenery. We saw lots of butterflies and many bumble bees.  Thomas was eager to leave the garden area in fear of getting stung. Story time was fun. Some other mommy's were there from our Seminole County Public Schools Mommy Group. We only stayed for Nathan's story time and then headed over to Winter Park for some quick shopping. Then we went over to Nana and Papa's house since Liz and Brian were there visiting. We ate at Tijuana Flats (Thomas' favorite) and then came home. It was a busy first day of summer vacation!

No one was around to take our picture so we improvised. (Thomas and his super hero smile!)

Early Birthday Celebrating

Thomas gets to celebrate his summer birthday at school tomorrow. He wanted me to make Angry Bird cupcakes. It was very hard to find the jimmies sprinkles in the colors I needed but I luckily found someone who sold them on Etsy. I made 2 dozen for his class and another 2 dozen for our house. whew! I think they turned out super cute.

Man Cave

Ever since we bought our house, Ken has wanted to build a shed. He plans to put the riding lawn mower inside, but now that it's built it may become the official "man cave". ha! He had the concrete foundation poured on April 1st and he has worked on it daily since! He finished painting it last weekend and finally "moved in" this week. I think he loves it and it's nice to reorganize our garage. All of a sudden the garage looks bigger! I think he did an excellent job!

Thomas helped paint the shed.
