Thomas has had two permanent lower teeth growing behind his baby teeth and we have been patiently waiting for the baby teeth to get wiggly so we didn't have to have the dentist pull them. One afternoon he said he had a wiggly tooth and within one week he had lost his first tooth!!! Ken tried to pull it, but it didn't work. Thomas asked him to "google" the right way to pull it. The next night, Ken did google it and tried a slip knot using dental floss to get it out. It took only one try and out it flew! Thomas was so excited that the tooth fairy would be visiting our house. He woke up the next morning to find $2 under his pillow. As his mom, I couldn't help but feel a little sad that he lost his tooth. No more little boy smile. I remember he had a 102 fever the day that tooth finally broke through the gum. That was his first tooth and sure enough, it was the first one he lost!

Choosing My Battles
Nathan insisted on wearing his backpack to bed. After trying to get him to stay in his bed for almost an hour, I gave in and just let him wear it. Within minutes he was sound asleep.

First Day of School
I thought I'd be sneaky and "stage" our back-to-school photos on Sunday, just incase Monday morning was too stressful. I took Nathan to his new school, in his special outfit with his backpack and flowers for his teacher. Of course he didn't want to smile for the camera. He was too intrigued at why the doors wouldn't open. I prayed that the alarms didn't go off! So, I brought the camera for "official" school pictures and got a few more shots. The boys both got up pretty easily. We were out the door by 6:40 since I wasn't sure how long it would take me to say good-bye to Nathan. He did great at first. I got him settled to eat a little breakfast and then when I told him that I would be back. He just looked at me and started crying! Poor little guy. He was so excited to see me at 4:00! The teacher said he refused to take off his backpack and even took a nap wearing it! I hope that the transition is a little easier tomorrow.
Thomas LOVES first grade. He had no problems being dropped off at our extended day. He found his class by himself and I got to see him at lunch. He said that they graphed how many boys and girls are in the class and that they learned about "topics". He is excited to go back, which is great!

Basketball, Pizza and Trophies!
Today was Thomas' last day of Basketball. The 8 week season is finally over. Today we played two games. One was at 4:30 and one at 5:30. After the game, the team went to Dominic's to share a pizza dinner and pass out trophies (Thomas' favorite part). We were very thankful that Thomas had Coach Bryan for the season. His son was in Thomas' kindergarten class and he had also coached his old T-Ball team. He has recently moved to Windemere and he loves these kids so much that he drove all that way just to coach. We will miss him and his family. Thomas truly enjoyed playing basketball. His skills have improved so much in just 8 weeks. I'm so glad that we signed up for basketball this summer! I asked him what sport he'd like to play next and he quickly said....table tennis! Only Thomas....

Meet the Teacher
We are gearing up to start another school year. I can't believe that Thomas will be a first grader! He got to meet his teacher, Ms. Ward on Friday. Ken helped him put away all his supplies and check out his new classroom. His teacher and I used to share a closet when we both taught Kindergarten. I know he is going to love being in her class. His friend Owen is in the class and so are two other friends from his Kindergarten class. I am so thankful he has some familiar faces. It will make the first day a little easier.

Uh Oh!
So, this is what happens when the house gets quiet for no reason. It always means someone is doing something they shouldn't. Nathan got ahold of some markers and decided to be artistic.

Fun at the Park
On Friday we joined that Weber family at Trotwood Park for some fun in the sun. Boy, was it hot!! The kids played a while on the playground and then they splashed at the splash pad. Nathan was so funny! He was licking up the water as if he was a puppy. We had lots of fun but we were very happy to get in the car and run the A/C!
