Meet the Teacher

On Friday, Thomas brought his supplies to school and got to meet his teacher. Ken took him to his classroom and helped him find his desk, cubby, and see all the neat things in the classroom. He really liked the treat bag Mrs. Slavik gave him. I wasn't able to walk down with them since I was meeting my new students. Ken took some good pictures for me. We are very excited about his first year in school. Mrs. Slavik's little girl came to our house to play the year that I stayed home. Plus, Ken went to school with her and her husband. It's more comforting sending him off to school knowing the teacher personally. I'm only 2 doors away from him, plus I'll get a chance to see him at lunch and recess. I just know it's going to be a great year!

Teacher Assignment

On Thursday, Thomas went to school to see who his teacher would be for Kindergarten. They posted the class lists on the windows of the front of the building. I have known about his teacher, but wanted him to find out like the other kids in his class. Thomas' teacher is Mrs. Slavik. Thomas is very excited.

Last Swim Lesson

Thomas had another great swim session at the YMCA. His instructor, Ms. Marta, was very nice and patient. Thomas can now swim on his belly and float and swim on his back. Being on his back made him nervous, but on the last lesson, he swam on his back perfectly. I wanted to sign him up for another session of 8 lessons, but the first one starts on the first day of school! I didn't think that would be a good idea, so I think we are going to wait a month and try again.

Trotwood Splash Park

Today we met up with Thomas' best buddy Luke and his family at Trotwood Splash Park in Winter Springs. I had never been before but we will surely go back! The splash park and playground are covered by mature oaks. There was a little cost to get into the splash pad, but it's considered a membership and we'll be able to return unlimitedly until October. The kids had so much fun splashing. Nathan had a blast and wasn't afraid at all. He loved sitting on the water and trying to catch the streams. Afterwards, the boys played on the big playground and Luke's little sister played on the small playground. (Nathan was content with his tray of goldfish crackers.) I'm so glad we had a chance to play there before going back to school. We can't wait to go again!

All Turned Around!

Today Nathan got to ride around town looking at what's up ahead, rather than what we just passed! I turned his carseat to the forward facing position. Usually this can be done at their first birthday and when they are 22 pounds, but our docotor recommended waiting as long as possible. Well, Nathan's legs needed some extra leg room, so I switched it around. He sat in amazement at his new scenery and loved how I could tickle his toes while at red lights. We hooked up the DVD player for his side of the seat and he loved it! Here's to another milestone!

Showered with Love

My very best friend, Emily, was showered with love today as she prepares to become a mommy. She is expecting her sweet daughter at the end of September. It was a lovely day full of her close friends and family. We are all so excited to meet Baby Coffaro!

Our Summer Bucket List

At the beginning of the summer Thomas and I created a list of all things we wanted to do while out from school. It's nice that we accomplished most of the things and we still have a few weeks left of the summer. Here's our list:

1. Swim Lessons (2 sessions completed at the YMCA)
2. Chuck E. Cheese (thanks to Owen's birthday party)
3. Bowling and Arcade at Firkin Kegler's (we went twice)
4. Story Time at the Library (Loved the baby storytime)
5. Golf at Tee it Up (too hot)
6. SeaWorld (too hot)
7. Free movie at Oviedo Theater (both boys loved it)
8. Go to a Splash Park (going next week with Thomas' BFF)
9. Amaya Papaya (lots of fun)
10. Go to the Zoo (and we got to see Mr.Richard perform, too!)
11. Stay in our Jammies (oh yes....we did this on many days!)
12. Go to the Beach (well....I'll be doing this without the kids next weekend, but we're planning a weekend trip when it cools off a little bit.)

We also had Nathan's 1st Birthday Party, Thomas' 5th Birthday seeing Toy Story 3 along with our first trip to Walt Disney World. We also battled many coughs, sneezes, fevers, ear infections, sinus infections and breathing treatments. Thank goodness I didn't have to use my sick-time from work. We met up with lots of friends including two that moved (or in the process of moving). All in all, it has been a great summer. Before you know it, I'll be packing lunchboxes and backpacks getting ready for our crazy morning routine. I'm so lucky that we were able to do so much this summer and I have to admit, I'm a little sad that summer is almost finished.
