Play Ball!

Last Saturday, Oviedo Babe Ruth had their Opening Day. The teams were all there. I hear that there are over 1,000 kids in the League this year. That's amazing! The day began at 8am on the field. Thomas was in a skill competition. He had to throw three balls into a large bucket at the end of the batting cage. He did awesome! Then we walked over to another field to have our individual pictures and team photos taken. I ordered a photo package but was able to quickly snap a few shots of Thomas while the photographer had him focused. I hope the ones I ordered come out just as great! We then had some free time, so we ate our picnic lunch. Good idea we brought sandwiches since the lines were so long for food. There was an opening ceremony which ALL the teams sat on the field and listened to people from the League tell about how great their year was last season. Then someone threw out the first pitch! It was such a wonderful sense of community! I love it! Some teams had to start playing games while the rest of us enjoyed the bounce houses and basket raffles! It was a long day, but a great one. Here are the highlights:

8 Months Old!

Each month I take a picture of Nathan in his little chair to help document how much he has grown in the course of 12 months. I have lots of plans with these pictures, but will surprise you later after one year has been complete. Anyways, I have to admit that the pictures are getting harder and harder to take. He just doesn't want to stay still!!!! He bounces on his chair to the point he falls off, usually resulting in a face plant. Here are some of the out takes. :)

Valentine's Love

Nana and Papa got the boys some super sweet things for Valentine's Day. We waited until after bathtime to open them up. The boys love their special treats. Nathan was quite content with just opening and eating the wrapping paper. They especially love their Nana and Papa. I love this picture! Nathan has such a sweet grin!

Look Ma! No Hands!

Yet another weekend has passed and we have seen Nathan do another "trick". On Saturday, he pulled himself up (which he now does within seconds) using a playroom chair. Then he LET GO! Yep, no hands. He balanced himself for about 4 seconds. (Yes, I was counting.) Now, everytime he pulls himself up he lets go on purpose just to practice balancing. Yay, Nathan!

Pulling Up

Nathan seems to be showing off new tricks everytime we turn around. His latest trick is pulling up to a stand. He does it in his crib, on toys, and furniture. No object is off limits. It's hard to believe he is doing all these tricks and he's not even 8 months old yet! Surely he'll be chasing Thomas by his first birthday!

Tee Ball Begins!!!

We have been waiting for this moment for months!!! We signed Thomas up to play T-Ball through the Oviedo Babe Ruth League. Thomas wanted to have the number "4 1/2" on his jersey to be just like his age but then decided to be the number six, since he likes how you write it! Ha! There are 12 children on his team including girls. We have practice twice a week and games will be on Saturdays or possibly during the week. We had to get a special T-Ball bat, glove and helmet. We even had to purchase a cup and Thomas was shocked to know what its function was! Our first practice was on Wednesday. The kids introduced themselves and then they did some stretching exercises. The coach taught the kids the different positions of the field. Thomas had to stand at Center Field. The coach broke the group into three smaller groups and each group practiced catching and batting skills. Thomas practiced at the T and then went to home plate where the coach tossed him the ball. He was so proud that he hit the ball! He called it a home run! The coach let him run all the bases once he hit all the balls. The entire time Thomas was fascinated by the clay and how he ran in cleats. On the way home, he boasted about how much fun he had and questioned when the next practice would be. Unfortunately, the next practice was Friday and it got rained out. I took some video from his batting practice and will try to post that soon. Enjoy the pictures. I can't wait until he gets his official uniform. He's going to be so cute!

100th Day of School

The 100th Day of School was celebrated this week and Thomas had to complete a special class project. He had to decorate a paperbag to make into a vest. He had to collect 100 items and display them on his vest. Then on the 100th Day his school was having a parade. Thomas collected 100 items by counting by tens. He collected crayons, legos, marshmellows, marbles, goldfish crackers, cheerios, pennies, raisins, noodles and fruit snacks. He picked out the items and counted them. He was so proud of his project. Luckily, Ken was able to go to the parade, but forgot his camera. Here's the special vest!
