Meet the Teacher

We are gearing up to start another school year. I can't believe that Thomas will be a first grader! He got to meet his teacher, Ms. Ward on Friday. Ken helped him put away all his supplies and check out his new classroom. His teacher and I used to share a closet when we both taught Kindergarten. I know he is going to love being in her class. His friend Owen is in the class and so are two other friends from his Kindergarten class. I am so thankful he has some familiar faces. It will make the first day a little easier.

Uh Oh!

So, this is what happens when the house gets quiet for no reason. It always means someone is doing something they shouldn't.  Nathan got ahold of some markers and decided to be artistic.

Fun at the Park

On Friday we joined that Weber family at Trotwood Park for some fun in the sun. Boy, was it hot!! The kids played a while on the playground and then they splashed at the splash pad. Nathan was so funny! He was licking up the water as if he was a puppy. We had lots of fun but we were very happy to get in the car and run the A/C!

New Playroom!

Thanks to a very kind former-parent, we picked up two new IKEA bookcases for our playroom. It only took 30 minutes for Ken and I to load them up, but it took 5 HOURS to re-organize everything. I love the way it turned out!

Congratulations!

On Saturday, we all met up at Mom and Dad's house to have a going away party for Elizabeth and Brian. They are moving next week to Illinois. We are so proud that they will be continuing their education at the University of Illinois. Elizabeth will be earning her doctorate and Brian his masters. It is quite a journey for them and I'm glad they are doing it together. We are very proud and can't wait to visit them.

Mommy Group Birthday Party

I joined this Mommy Group when Nathan was about six months old. The group consists of 8 mommy's that are SCPS empoyees. It is nice to meet up on our days off from school. Since all 8 kids turned 2 this summer, we decided to throw one big birthday party. We met up at Downey Park in Orlando. It has a very cool splash pad and pavillions. Each Mommy brought something special to the party. (I made/brought the cake.) And we did a simple gift exchange for the kids. It was so much fun and not stressful like other kinds of birthday parties. It was super hot so the kids got grouchy pretty quick. It was a great way to document how quick these babies are growing up.

Bounce U Playdate

On Wednesday, Holli's Mom arranged for our Mommy Group to meet up at Bounce U in Sanford. It was a huge place with lots of different bounce houses. Thomas and Nathan loved the basketball hoop one. Nathan LOVED all the ones that had balls in them. One of the bounce houses you loaded air guns and shot soft balls across the bounce house into hoops or in Thomas' case, he shot them at the kids on the other side. Nathan got the hang of climbing up the little steps and sliding down the big slide. He had absolutely no fear. The staff took us through two bounce rooms and then into their snack room for some juice and cookies. It was a fun place to visit. It's just hard to keep up with both boys in a place like that.
